Tuesdays are going to be a combination of content.  The beginning of the session we will be having Birding Fun for 4 weeks at 10:30 am.  We will put one technology session in on June 30th, and then starting July 7th we will begin our Make Me Smile Series.

Tuesday afternoons will start out with a Technology series, have a visioning session for four weeks and then go back to technology.  It’s all outline below and on the GRID on the link above or the picture below.

10:30 am

Birding 101 – June 3, 10, 17, 24

Join Lyda Phillips to learn the basics of birding.  Even if you don’t want to become an official “birder” you can learn how to identify birds and enjoy your bird watching much more.

Also we will demonstrate some of the tools and apps that you can use to make your bird watching experience even better.  Here is more about Lyda.

Kendle Jenkins – Understanding Dreams

We are thrilled that Wendy Adams is part of our Lifespan family – and we are even more thrilled that her daughter Kendle Jenkins, a psychoanalyst who specializes in dream interpretation, has made these amazing videos to help us all better understand our dreams. Watch these four videos before our workshop on Tuesday,  June 30th at 10:30 am and then we can discuss them.

Birding Continues – July 7, 14, 21, 28

Lyda Phillips has agreed to continue our birding class!

Her present students decided they wanted to keep on going! Lyda will be taking this upcoming week off (Tuesday, June 30th) and then we start with us again on Tuesday July 7th at 10:30 am.

We are going to be adding some new elements to the class, so get ready. You will be taking photos of the birds by your feeder so you can share them with all of us. We will be using either google drive, dropbox or email for you to share you photos. (more details on this next week). That way we can help identify the birds we don’t know all together during class. Let the birding fun begin.

1:30 pm

Technology Sessions will be at 1:30 pm  June 9th, through July 28th.

June 9 – Videos – short, mobile and computer edited

June 16  Zoom Refresher

June 25  Learn how to use Canva

June 30  Easy ways to make videos

July  7    Video editing big time

July 14th – Music on your devices and What is Bluetooth

July 21st – Apps that you want and need

July 28th – Sending and Sharing – just about everythingWEDNESDAYS

We have figured out ways to offer our activity classes life on Zoom.  While we realize that this isn’t as wonderful as being able to gather in person, we have resolved some of the barriers to be able to have a shared experience rather than sitting by ourselves and watching videos.

We also know that not everyone is a Tai Chi participant, so we are offering a second option on  Wednesdays at 10:30 am.  For the first four weeks we are bringing a Birding Class with Lyda Phillips from Nashville, TN. (more about Lyda below).  The second half of the session will be a series called “Make Me Smile.”  We will have virtual tours and lots of other forms of humor as a break from the turbulent times around us.  The morning link is the same for both classes and we will be breaking into separate groups after you log in.

Thursdays we are offering several great classes at the 10:30 time slot.  We have one of Lifespan’s regulars who is going to talk to us about women painters.  Then we have Paul Black, elderlaw attorney talking about senior scams and how to avoid heartbreak hotel.  And finally we have Dr. Lois Ricci, joining us.  Lois is a nurse and gerontologist, and an expert of issues of aging today.  See more info below.

And then we are proud to have managed the frustrations of the Internet and can offer LIVE line dancing.  Come and join in.

Women Painters – Paul Richter – June 4th, 11th, and 18th

Paul will be telling us about some amazing Women Painters – some of whom you may never have heard of.  You will hear about their lives and get a chance to see the paintings – vitually, that is.

Paul Black – elderlaw attorney – Senior Scams and Avoiding the Pitfalls

June 25th and July 23rd

Paul Black will be returning for two sessions during our Summer LOL.  He will come to talk about Senior Scams and then how to avoid Heartbreak Hotel.

 Dr. Lois Ricci – July 2, 16th and 30th

Dr Lois is a nurse and gerontologist with 40 years of experience in the field of aging.  She will be sharing with us some of the new and innovative things that are happening the field today, as well as some of the new things they are working on in Tucker.  Ever hear of Peter and Paul’s Place?  How about Thistledown?  And Silvernet?  Did you know there are adult playgrounds?  The more things change, the more they stay the same.   Come and join Lois on these three Thursday mornings.

Line Dancing – With Rose Haven – June 4th through July 30th

We are pleased to say that we have figured out how to offer line dancing LIVE!!  It’s not the same as gathering in person, but you can dance to your heart’s content and no one else can see!!  So you can learn and get your exercise, but not feel alone.  This is so much better than being by yourself.  Every once and awhile we have to work through the glitches of the Internet, but we make our way through and still have a great dance.

Mondays and Fridays

We are still having our open Zoom gatherings at 10 am on Mondays and Fridays.  For each of the other days of the week the room will open at 10 am so that you can gather, greet each other, and have that traditional coffee hour.  Then on Mondays and Fridays we will enjoy a coffee hour for those mornings.  Different members of the Lifespan family may be hosting those meetings, but we will have the zoom gatherings open so you can check in with each other.

We are looking forward to an interesting and active summer.  Stay safe.
